Why do some leaves turn brown every fall? They are scattered all around the plant.

Arborvitae like most all other needle evergreens will naturally drop at least one set of the oldest needles annually. this should be happening from the inside out. Environmental stresses may increase the total volume of needles lost. If you feel this is more than that, contact your local extension service office for a more locally focused interpretation of what is going on.
