I planted about 20 Green Giants on Sept 15th. I watered them daily for the first 3 weeks and have been only watering once or twice a week since them. I noticed yesterday that the inside of all the trees are turning a burnt orange and starting to panic. Am I not watering enough or am I over watering or is it something else. Needless to say it was a large investment and I am desperate to figure out what I can do. Thanks!

One of the first things to do is to contact the retailer and let him know of your concerns, especially if a warranty is involved. All needle evergreens will lose some interior needles each year as new growth and needles are generated at the tips of the branches. there may be more this year as they have reenctly been planted. Root ball should be moist but not overly wet. If container grown, those soils dry out much quicker than your surrounding soil. so be sure to check near the trunk of the plant. Protect them from drying winter winds and water them one last time before you remove the hose for the winter.
