VEHICLE EXHAUST AIR AND NEEDLE DROP

We had a tree removed in January when it was about 25 degrees. The vehicle exhaust must have hit the arborvitae where the burlap cover wasn't (bottom 1/2) . It turned brown quickly and fell off (within two weeks). Will the needles return in Spring?

If viable buds remain on the branches regrowth should occur. Arborvitae do have the ability create new buds on older twigs and branches. You have a wait and see situation. perhaps a spring fertilization once general growth resumes is in order using an evergreen fertilizer or a general purpose product.
