Hello, I'm interested in planting bamboo in my back yard as a hedge between me and my neighbor. Do you have any thoughts on the species I should plant and the care they might need?

Consider only those that grow as a clump as the runner types are very difficult to manage. Runners can show up several feet away and into the neighbors yard. Their is a Bamboo Association that can be very helpful in your search. http://bamboo.org/index.php Often times there will be complete winter kill, but will regrow from buds in the soil. Consider Phylostachis (sp) Nuda and Fargesia as potential species, but only after doing much more reading.
