My dog was urinating on one of the 6ft arbs killing a bottom section rought 2 ft x 1ft. I clipped off the dead black foliage. Will this missing patch fill back in? Should I clip the dead branches flush to the trunk . I left about an inch. Tree other wise looks very healthy Thanks in advance

Nearby twigs and branches should fill in the area. The twigs back past where you removed the damage should also sprout new buds. Water during dry periods and you can also fertilize next spring to encourage growth. a spot this size will take a few years to completely recover.
