Globe Arborvitae Transplant

Hi, I received 5 3' globe arborvitae plants from a friend in May and 4 do not look very good. I am wondering if they can be saved and if so, what I should do. The only one that is fine is the one I put in a pot, and it doesn't have proper drainage right now. I have been watering every other day, and every day when I can. They aren't totally brown but they are yellowish brown and not getting better. Should I cut them back? What can I try? By the way, the soil is not clay. Thank you in advance for your help; it is greatly appreciated!

If mature and dug up and given to you, I suspect adequate root system did not come along and are suffering from transplant shock. Cutting them back can reduce the stress on the root system. Watering them every day or every other day depending on how much may have the soil saturated, again placing stress on the limited root system. if in the sun, providing some temporary shading also will reduce the stress.
