all needle evergreens will shed interior needles every year as part of their normal cycle. the new outer needles are more productive recieving more sunlight than those inside. At some point each year, remaining energy is moved out of needles to other parts of the plant and then they brown. Depending on annual growth rates, some years this can be very noticeable. Water during dry periods each summer and feeding in the spring will keep them healthier.
