I mow a few yards part time and would also like to apply the readily-available Scott's 4-Step program to certain customers and read that once again, the lawyers have been busy!

Is it legal to apply Scott's products, to one of my mowing customer's yard? (the same product he could buy in the same store and completely legally apply to his yard himself, being 'un-licensed' as well)

If not, what kind of hoops do they want us to pay and fees, etc. in order to be able to do the same thing many unlicensed jr. high school kids are doing to their parents yards?

In Illinois, the difference between an individual applying a product to their yard and a third party doing so is twofold, 1, the third party is receiving income from doing so and 2, the third party is applying product on another property, not their own. To obtain the proper license, there is a general standards and turf category exam to be taken along with proof of insurance and appropriate fees.
