Lilac bush

My old established lilac bush is turning brown with curling leaves. Last year we put in an aur Tomatillos watering system. The ground stays quite wet, and we have hot, dry and windy days. How can I tell whether it needs deeper watering or less watering?1250

Plants should receive about one inch of water a week between rains and irrigation. this varies based on soil type, surface drainage and weather factors. Too much soil moisture will cause root and crown rots. Would suspect that too much water would impact your tomatillos before the lilac as they are annuals. Older lilacs could also be inpacted by lilac borers and lilac scales. Borers disrupt the flow of water and nutrition in the branches and scales take away needed moisture from the branches.
