Silt Covered Yard

I live in Fox lake off of a lake and with the recent rain my yard flooded with lake water. The water has been on the yard for about 2 weeks. The yard has a lot of silt on it and is foul smelling.. I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to care for the lawn.

As soon as the yard dries I am planning to aerate the entire yard. I have too much yard to try and wash away the silt. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

there are many factors as to how well your lawn is going to do after the floodwaters hve receded. aeration is a good beginning to open the soil back up again allowing more oxygen into the profile. The odors should dissipate as the soil and organic matter dry out or completely decay. Michican State has a good resource annswering a lot of questions. http://msue.anr.msu.edu/news/will_my_turf_recover_from_spring_flooding
