Impatiens are in pots..get morning sun and shade in the afternoon, but have not bloomed most of the season. What can be done to promote bloom?

The usual culprit is too much fertilizer resulting in a great looking flower. Sometimes the soil mix used contains fertilizer already and then more is added when we water using a liquid mix. If the pots are mobile, take one to a location in the yard that gets more sun to see if it is actually getting too much shade in the afternoon. This may be your traditional location, yet as trees get bigger the more shade or deeper shade they provide.
