Yellowjacket infestation

Is there a way to identify yellow jacket hive or nesting areas? Last year our rooftop deck garden experienced a significant infestation of these aggressive bees. We do NOT want to poison, we want to capture and remove the queen(s) before the mass of worker bees show back up. Can you help at all?
