Last Summer my established Japanese Maple Tree's leaves started curling up and dying. This Spring only one branch of the tree (the lowest branch on the tree) has leafed out. the remainder of the tree has not put out any leaves. Does that mean my tree will not be able to be saved?

If the damage was the very cold winter temperatures, then there was enough vascular damage to the trunk and branches to cause the failure. If you can snap the twigs and young branches there is no life there. What is left growing may last for some time yet, then fail as well.

Your concern has a been a common one this year, one many homeowners are dealing with.
