I recently applied a weed killer on my lawn and now I have these large yellow spots everywhere. I can't imagine my lawn had that many weeds.???

You may have had some weeds other than the typical dandelions. some weeds blend better with the grass. The other possibilty is that you applied the too much herbicide and burned the lawn (especially common when a dry herbicide is applied with a spreader and it is not turned off when the spreader is turned 180 degrees. Liquid sprays tend to be applied at the end of the arm swing.
