evergreen selection

What would be a good choice for an evergreen screen in a new-development backyard? This is a Munster, IN location--zone 5-a or -b. Ideally, I'm looking for a medium size tree that looks like a dwarf Italian Cypress. I'm also looking for a sidewalk median tree--small and ornamental that will withstand a pretty open exposure. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
