aerating/seeding

I had planned to aerate and seed my lawn this fall. It is a sloping lawn with essentially no shade. Is this a bad year to do it since we are in a drought and a great deal of watering will be needed? The lawn is mostly brown (dormant?) now. Total lawn is approximate 9000 square feet.

In your area, you can plant grass seed from early September to late September. Hopefully by then the drought has ended.
