i have just noticed this week a web type disease has formed on a limb or 2 of my redbud. it appears to have a lot of little gnats and worms inside it and the leaves are dead inside the web as well.

what do i need to do?

If the webbing is enclosing the end of the branches and the leaves, then you probably have fall web starting. They are more of a cosmetic problem than harmful. since they do not leave the web, chemical does not always work. If the nests are low enough, CRUSH them. DO NOT burn them because burning the nest while it is still ion the tree is harmful to the tree.
