AT SOME TIME I READ THAT YOU COULD CUT SHRUBS-GOLD FLAME SPIREA ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND BEFORE THE SAP STARTED TO RUN, IS THIS A TRUE STATEMENT AND WE THEY GROW BACK WITH OUT ANY PROBLEMS. THANKS

These types of spireas need to be cut down to 1" nubs about every 5 to 8 years to keep them healthy and you do this while they are dormant. As to how well they come back depends on how healthy they were before the pruning and the growing site is it the right environment for the plant.
