Hi,

I don't have experience and much ideas growing vegetables in backyard. What kind of organic manure I can use for growing vegetables? How often it need watering? During summer, rabbits come on every day in the backyard. How to protect vegetables from rabbits? Suggestions please...

Thanks, Abirami

Use animal manure that has been heat treated or composted outside for at least one year. Manures are poor fertilizers because they are very low in nutrients. Water based on the plants needs - which usually is at least one inch of surface water every 5 to 7 days minus what it rains in your yard (use a rain guage). Keep rabbits out by using 3' wide chicken wire - bend the bottom six inches outward from the garden and cover with 1" of soil - this leaves 2 1/2 feet sticking straight up. Rabbits can not jump this high nor will they be able to dig under if you bend the fencing outward and over with soil. DO NOT put a gate in - just step over the fencing
