How Often for Aeration

We live in an area of new construction with poor soil, mostly clay. Its a sod lawn with overseeding The past 3 years I have aerated in both the spring and fall to try and allow the nutrients to get into the soil.

Do I need to continue to do it that often? The aeration machine is such a bear that I would like to skip it alltogehter this year and start next spring with once a year.

Assuming that your clay soil is as poor as the soil I see on new construction in my area, I would consider spring and fall core aeration for this year and in 2007. In 2008 you can go to core aeration every fall for the next five years. After that - core aerate as needed.
