I was given a cutting from a friend on I believe a type of jade plant-I am unable to find it in any reference book It has green waxy leaves that look like suction cups on the ends-I does not like to be over watered and cuttings grow by just being place in the soil. If it needs water little ristles come off the branches--the plants branches are very thick sort of tree like and it will grow towards the light. can you help me identify this?

Sounds like you have the artillary plant (Pilea serpillacea). Check some house plant books or the web and see if the pictures match your plant.
