There are three types of cacti - Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Do not know which one you have. They tend to need slightly different growing conditions. The one that tends to bloom more than once is the Easter cactus. These plants in general need dry conditions and prolong dark nights with no light interference. They are kept on the dry side till buds become visible. Then you increase watering. During the summer give them lots of light and several light fertilizings.
