Globe Blue Spruce

In spring 2005, I planted 2 globe blue spruce bushes right next to my front entry steps. One is doing well. The other has brown needles at the bottom and is beginning to lose them. The top still looks ok. What can I do to help it? Should I fertilize it? When and with what? Thanks.

There are many reasons for the needles to turn brown on one plant and not the other. Were they both planted correctly (not too deep and the rope and burlap was cut off as far down the sides as possible), is the drainage the same for both. Are they getting the same amount of light. Does one have a disease or and insect or a mite problem. For all of the above questions, fertilizer will not help. You need to get the problem id. I can try and determine what is going on if you send me some good pictures of both plants. Need to see the entire plant with at least 5feet of landscape on both sides. I need to see the trunk as it goes into the ground and I need to see some really good up close pics of the browning needles. The pictures need to be in color and really clear/sharp. Do not send blurry or out of focus pictures. E-mail to the above e-mail address.
