When I purchase mums from a garden store, and transplant them into larger pots as soon as I bring them home, using store-bought potting soil, I notice that the blossoms start to change color. For example, white mums start to turn purple, the yellow will start to get rust colored, the rust colored turn pinkish. Why does this happen?

Bud color on mums is not often the color of the flower once it opens.
