We recently purchased a home that has a pond. The pond is very green and we would like to know the best and safest way to to clean it up.

Thanks - Marsha

There are companies that specialize in pond management and can properly evaluate your pond. There are a lot of variables to be considered. Was it just neglected this year before you bought the home, is it spring fed, how deep is it, is the algae there from excessive nutrient run off from the surrounding area, are there fish present, had there been an aerator used before, how many gallons or acre feet of water are there if a treatment is to be applied, etc. Check your local yellow pages, contact your Chamber of Commerce, do an internet search on algae removal and you should find a firm that can help you.
