Termite control requires the skills of a professional due to the complexity of the problem. First and foremost, a positive ID should be done as the treatment is expensive. Termites eat and digest wood, must remain moist while doing so and often bring moist mud along to seal their tunnels. Their nests are in the ground below the slab or basement floors or in nearby soil surrounding the home. Other than the winged offspring, termites are white in color and wingless. Like an ant colony, they will produce winged versions that are expected to fly away and start new termint colonies. there are distinct differences between ants and termites in appearance and how the wings are attached to the thorax.
