Bees

[Post a Follow Up] [Post to this category]

Farah left a message on our office voicemail regarding bees. She lives in Barrington in the Chicago area and she is concerned that she has not seen any bees in her neighborhood, and she was wondering why.

She also wanted to know what she could plant, flowers or bushes, etc. to draw the bees back to her neighborhood or if they are gone for good.

Thanks.

Rose

The best way to invite bees into the area is planting "pollinator" gardens. An easy start is to review this website: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/cfiv/pollinators/

You can fine tune the garden by planting more of your favorites over time. you can also ask your local park district if they have similar gardens to see what the plants look like.
