Attic Flies

A local resident contacted me regarding the presence of large "attic flies" in a fairly new home. (built in the last 5 years.) Other homes in the same area don't see to have many, but this particular house, even after spraying with an insect repellant, is still having an issue. What can be done to reduce/eliminate their presence?

The only way homes have flies in the winter is due to warm conditions where they decided to overwinter. They enter our rooms via cracks and crevices, openings at light fixtures in the ceiling, outlets, heating duct work etc.. Without a food source they will perish on their own. vacuuming and paper toweling are the most common ways to remove them. They may congregate around light fixtures as well. Newer homes can go through a period of"settling" Next summer check doors and wiindows for proper caulking around their frames.
