My yard is full of mole trails. How do i get rid of the moles and keep them away?

Moles need well-drained soil with a good supply of food (worms, insects, grubs). If the habitat is good, and it sounds like your yard fits the bill, there will likely be moles. The best way to remove moles is to kill them using harpoon, scissor-jaw, or choker traps. These traps can be purchased at farm and home supply stores. You do not need a permit to trap or remove moles. There are other control methods, but they have not proven to be effective at removing moles. Be aware that once you have trapped the mole, another mole is likely to move into the unoccupied territory. So it can be quite the challenge to keep moles out of an area. Fortunately, they do not really do any damage if you can overlook the surface tunnels. And they are great at keeping pests like lawn grubs under control. The eastern mole page found in the Wildlife Directory on this website provides more information about moles and a link to site that walks you through the trapping process. Or you can hire a nuisance wildlife control operator (NWCO) to trap and dispose of the mole(s) for you. A list of licensed NWCOs can be found on the Find a Wildlife Profesional page on this website.
