My husband wants to start a business that specializes in nuisance wildlife control. We are not sure what licenses and permits are required by the state. By reviewing this website, it looks like he would need to take an IDNR test to obtain a NWCO permit. Please advise on the steps needed to take that test and get a permit and what, if any, other requirements would be needed. Thank you.

Good morning,

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will send out study packets to anyone requesting information on how to become a nuisance wildlife control operator (NWCO). The packet includes administrative rule 525 which sets out the requirements & provisions of the program. The person must then pass a test administered by the IDNR to receive a Class A license.
