bobcats

Hi I have a bobcat that is causing substantial economic damage to my greenhouse structures, by climbing up them and puncturing the greenhouse film. It has been out here for at least two years and has been properly identified by photograph and employee sightings. Are bobcats common to this area of Illinois, or is it likely that it is a single transient. If it is a transient, can they be trapped and re-released into their native habitat. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Bobcats are now found throughout Illinois, but are most common in the southern third of the state. They are protected by the Illinois Wildlife Code. Since this animal is causing property damage, you should contact your local IDNR district wildlife biologist (DWB) for guidance on how to handle this situation. You can find the DWB responsible for your county at: http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/wildlife/professionals.cfm
