Foxes

I have foxes that are going in and out of my yard & the other day one of them was on my steps to my front door. I have (2) small children at home that play outside frequently. I am worried that one of them will be harmed. Please let me know what to do.

The foxes should not pose a threat to your children. They are curious animals but are typically wary of people. You can discourage them from coming into the yard by making a lot of noise (e.g. rattling cans with rocks in them) or spraying water at them with a garden hose. If the foxes appear sick (very thin, mangy looking, lethargic, etc.), or if they approach the children, you should contact your local IDNR district wildlife biologist for advice on how to handle the situation.
