Box Turtles

We have a box turtle, bought from a pet shop a few years ago, that I wish to return to the wild. Is this safe to do? Any suggestions? thanks Larry McLaughlin

Good morning. It would not be appropriate to turn this turtle loose since it came from a pet store. I would recommend that you contact local nature centers to see if they would take a donated turtle. The centers often use turtles in educational outreach programs. If you need help tracking down a place for the turtle, please feel free to e-mail me.
