I drove upon a barred owl, which was a road kill. Since I am an educator, I chopped off the talon and wing to show my students. Am I legally allowed to possess such items in my classroom?

No, it would not be legal for you to keep any part of the owl, despite the fact that it was killed by a car. You could contact your local Illinois Department district wildlife biologist to see about getting a permit for educational display purposes.
