A friend of mine has an orphaned raccoon that they have nursed back to health. They have tried to let it go and it acts as if its just not ready to leave. they are afraid that if they just take off that something bad will happen to him. What do you think the best course of action would be?

The raccoon should be taken to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. They can teach the raccoon how to care for itself in the wild. You can find a list of rehabbers in your area on the Find a Professional page of this website. If you have more questions, please feel free to e-mail me.
