we have all types of wildlife on our lake, and respect them all. the lake is at least 50 years old and these turtles are very large. I'm guessing around 100 pounds or more. Our problem, they eat the wood ducklings that hatch out every year.It is so sad. There are so many of these turtles. We have enjoyed watching them coming out and laying eggs, but there has to be a way to relocate them. HELP!

I understand not wanting to see the wood ducklings get eaten by the snapping turtles. But the snapping turtles are providing a great service to your lake. They eat sick, injured, and dead fish and other aquatic life. This improves the overall health of the lake. Relocating the turtles is not an option. Capturing and relocating a 100+ pound snapping turtle would be dangerous (both for the turtle and for anyone's fingers that got too close!). In order for nature to function the way it is supposed to, the turtles need to be part of the ecosystem.
