Skunk

I have a skunk(s) somewhere in my yard. My dog has been out twice - once at night and once in the early morning - and has been sprayed by a skunk. What can I do to find the skunk(s) and get it/them removed from my property?

Thank you.

When dealing with skunks it is best to hire a nuisance wildlife control operator to trap and remove the skunk. You can find a list of NWCOs in your area on the 'Find a Professional' page of this website. If you prefer to trap the skunk yourself, you will need to call your local Illinois Department of Natural Resources district wildlife biologist to request a free animal removal permit. The biologist will not trap the animal for you, but he can provide advice on the best ways to trap and remove the animal. You can find the number for the DWB on the 'Find a Professional' page as well.
