Infection on a harvested deer

I recently harvested an 8 point buck that had been shot 3 weeks prior through both loins. The wound was infected. It had puss running out of both holes. Would the rest of the deer be any good or should I throw the rest of the meat away? I'd hate to waste all of that meat.

I sent this question on to John Tippitt, IDNR district wildlife biologist. Here is his response: That's difficult to say without seeing the meat myself. I usually look for any discoloration or unusual smell, if the remainder of the meat looks and smells normal, then it's probably alright. But, if you have any doubt then throw it out.
