skunk odor in house

Two skunks have burrowed under our front porch (cement slab), and we have not been able to get them out (humane traps were set, but it is so cold they aren't coming out from under the porch). In the meantime, they have twice sprayed around (or under!) our house, and the smell won't go away (it's been 4 weeks!!) I don't know if they sprayed under the porch, or just around the foundation and near our garage door, but the odor is horrific as you approach the house, in the garage, and inside the house, too! What can I do?

Unfortunately, getting rid of the odor will be a challenge. There is a solution that is fairly effective in getting the odor out of clothes, off pets, etc. but it could potentially discolor siding. If you use it, test it on a small area to make sure it doesn't stain the foundation or siding before applying it to large areas.

Solution for Skunk Odor Removal

Mix 1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, ΒΌ cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon liquid soap. Do not add water. This solution can be used to wash skin, clothes, dogs, etc. that have been sprayed by skunks. Due to the peroxide, the solution may lighten the fur of pets.

While the solution will get rid of the smell faster than letting it "weather", it won't get rid of the smell overnight. And repeat applications will likely be necessary. What are you using to bait the traps?
