Neighbor with 3 trough filled with corn

We have a neighbor who keeps 3 troughs of corn filled at all times. This attracts many animals. Last week we saw 6 bucks come feed in the evening. We also have a creek in the yard so a flock of mallards stay whenever the creek is open. We know we have fox and coyote also. A year ago we had a deer taken down by a coyote. We didn't find the carcass until spring. Is there someone who can talk to her about why this isn't a good idea? We do not get along well, so I don't feel she would listen to me. Thank you

Due to concerns about spreading chronic wasting disease, it is illegal to feed deer in Illinois. Supplemental food sources attract many more animals to an area than would occur naturally, and places the animals in much closer proximity to one another while feeding. While feeding wildlife is a great way to bring them in close enough to watch, unfortunately, it is also a great way to expose them to disease.

Neighbor Gary is feeding squrrils, mice, chipmuncks. We are over run with rodents and he refuses to stop. What can be done.? He walks across Bright Oaks and feeds them there also daily. Are there any ordinances . . . an chipmunck ran in the doorway. Help please.

There is not a state law that prohibits feeding wildlife such as birds, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. (It is illegal to feed deer in Illinois). But, there are some communities with ordinances against feeding wildlife. You'll need to call your local officials to see if there is anything on the books in your town. Some people really like feeding wildlife because it gives them a sense of connection with nature. If this is a situation where you think there can be a compromise, try talking to your neighbor and see if he'd be willing to go out watch the wildlife without feeding them on a regular basis. Maybe he'd be willing to feed the animals once a week rather than daily. Wildlife do not need supplemental feeding from people. In fact, it often draws in more animals to an area than the habitat can support. This can cause spread of disease and increases the animals' stress levels. If the numbers are really getting out of control, rat traps will work on chipmunks. Squirrels can be trapped by nuisance wildlife control operators. Hopefully the situation doesn't have to reach that point.
