Our subdivision owns a large retention pond that recently attracted a family of beavers. They are causing two problems. First, they are downing trees. Second, they dam an overflow pipe structure which raises the water level of the pond. We frequently remove the dam, but that is not a long term solution. We believe that if we can prevent the damming of the overflow pipe structure, the reduced water level will increase the distance of the trees from the water which should reduce additional tree damage. What are the best options to prevent damming of the overflow pipe? We'd also like to know if there are any contractors that specialize in this type of work. We'd prefer not to trap because the beaver problem is not isolated to our area. Nearby subdivisions are having the same problems. If we trap the beavers on our pond, it is only a matter of time before other beavers would move in.
