My company is moving me from Houston, TX to Chicago. Our two daughters have captive-bred, domesticated pet gray squirrel, that we acquired from a breeder. It was in our family for 4 years. I was told, that Illinois required some kind of permit for our pet. Is it true? And if it is, can I get one after we move to Chicago or I need to secure it before moving.

Hello, Sorry it took awhile to respond to your question. According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources you will need a game breeders permit available at: http://dnr.state.il.us/admin/commpermits.htm and proof that the animal was born in captivity (e.g., receipt for purchase, copies of permits if required in state of origin).
