Sick Robin

An American Robin has been sitting/sleeping on the gravel by my garage for a few hours. I went out to see if it was dead, but it woke up (only after I whistled at it for a while) and made a sad effort to hop away from me. What could be the problem? I understand that I don't have a license to help these wild animals, but what is wrong with it? Robins don't normally sleep during the day and we had a heavy hail last night so it could be injured. When should I get help for it?

Birds are very good at hiding signs of sickness until they are quite sick. It is possible that the robin is sick. Or it may have flown into a window and was stunned. There are many reasons why the robin may have been sitting in the driveway. Because it is very stressful for birds to be handled by people, the best course of action is to leave the bird alone. If it just needs time to recover from a window strike, it will recover faster if left alone.
