dead sparrows

In our area there has been a rash of sparrow killings. The sparrows are missing their heads, the bodies are otherwise intact. There are no signs of trauma on or around the bodies, no missing feathers even. We had 4 of these in our yard in one day...neighbor is also having this problem. What would be doing this ??
