I work in a 10 story office building and 2 turkey vultures have created nests nearby. They sit on the ledge outside the windows during the day. The landlord has to decided to remove them due to the mess they are leaving on the windows - is it legal to remove nesting vultures and do they need a permit?

The nests are protected by federal and state laws. It is illegal to remove them. The landlord should contact the Illinois Department of Natural Resources district wildlife biologist for options. Scott Garrow covers Cook Co. and his number is (847) 294-4129.
