I find nowhere on your site where it explains how to act/react should we run across a red fox. We have red foxes in our area. Your site does say loud noises don't scare them, or something like that, and it says no repellants are approved. What if we were to come across such an animal, aggressive appearing or otherwise, and we were unarmed? What to do then? Also, are pepper sprays and sticks advisable for hiking on bike paths, etc.?

Very likely if you see a fox it will either run off or sit and watch you. They generally are not aggressive towards people. If you see one on a hike you shouldn't need to do anything other than continue enjoying your hike. If the fox does approach, yell at it. If that does not work, wave your arms around and throw rocks or sticks in its direction (not directly at the fox). There shouldn't be need for pepper spray. A stick isn't necessary for defense against a fox, but they're kind of nice for balance on rough terrain.
