Dear Sir or Madam,

I am a lawful Illinois hunter, and would like to try my hand at coyote hunting. If I got one, is there someone in my area to take the pelts & carcass for either study or some other use? Thank you for your time. Any information would be useful.

Thank you,

Brett

I contacted staff in IDNR to see if someone could use the pelts. They are not currently conducting any studies that could make use of coyotes donated for scientific purposes. They suggested either donating the pelts to a nature center (many use them in education programs for children), or selling them to a fur buyer. One of the biologists mentioned that one of the larger companies in the state has a truck route (see www.gfwco.com), but that storing whole animals could be a problem between pick-ups.
