Critter Detectives found a racoon and her babies under our deck. They said if we pay exra money they will not euthanize and will transport the animals somewhere near the WI border to live. This sounds very fishy especially after reading your site. My guess is they euthanize no matter what but try to make extra money by playing with their customers emotions. I hope I am wrong. What do you think?

By law, raccoons in Illinois must either be: 1) released on the same property within 100 yards of where the animal was captured, 2) surrendered to a licensed veterinarian who is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, or 3) humanely euthanized.
