Injured animal found behind our house (on edge of Lake County Forest Preserve) is approx 15 in long, elongated body, short legs, clawed and unwebbed feet, triangular head with pointed nose, almost entirely white/offwhite except for dark fur near tip of 3-4 in tail. Would like to identify and care for it appropriately. Resembles photo of Least Weasel winter coat but nose is pink, not black. I'll try to insert photo here; if unsuccessful, can send via email. Thx!

Long-tailed weasel. Depending on the injury, the best course might be just to leave the animal alone. If you do decide to seek medical attention for it, be aware that despite the small size, they are typically quite aggressive, so be very careful when trying to handle the animal.
