we discovered 12 duck eggs in nest under bush in front yard. Accidentally scared mother out of bush. She is in yard getting closer to nest, but still keeping distance from nest. How do we protect them? We don't live real close to body of water, but had lots of rain and standing water this week.

Just give her space and she'll return to the nest. They are more likely to abandon the nest if they haven't yet started incubating. But with 12 eggs in the nest, if she hasn't started incubating the eggs, she very soon will be.
